We have some exciting news to share with you – our charity name will be changing!

When we first launched the Winter Night Shelter, our mission was to help those experiencing homelessness in Milton Keynes to have somewhere warm and safe to sleep during the coldest months of the year and our only focus was providing a night shelter.

Since our launch, our work and role locally has grown, and we are helping more and more individuals and families with our welfare services – which includes mental health referrals and counselling, access to food, housing advice and support into safer accommodation, help with benefits, and access to our shower and washing facilities.

We are no longer ‘just’ a night shelter, and we are now open all year round. We felt it was important that we reflect this with a new name, and so are thrilled to share with you that our charity will now be called UnityMK.

UnityMK reflects the work we do – we bring people together and offer them hope for a brighter future. The word ‘unity’ is about everything working as one, and with the range of services we offer, we are often helping our guests with various areas of their lives, including mental health, job prospects, food, as well as housing.

Our hope is that with our new name and new branding it will also encourage those that are struggling, but not homeless, to know they can seek help from us before it reaches crisis point.

And while the name may have changed, our teams’ commitment to supporting individuals and families with a range of problems and helping find solutions that will get them into safe, stable housing, has not. Our amazing welfare team, along with access to food, showers and washing facilities will remain at Unity Park Station.

We also know that our night shelter is a crucial lifeline for many guests during the winter months, and one we will continue to offer as part of our range of services.

We are working hard behind the scenes on our new logo and website, which we are looking forward to sharing with you later this summer!
